The 'Jericho' Family

Friends,

I was inspired by a movement that I became a part of, and has turned into almost a second family. This movement has made me realize the power of having a presence on the internet. The movement I speak of is the Jericho Lives Campaign.

I was a loyal viewer of the drama 'Jericho' on Wednesdays on CBS. I was alarmed to find out that at the last moment CBS decided to cancel the show and not give it a second season. Honestly, I could have lived with that decision, but for the fact that they ended Season 1 with a cliffhanger episode and didn't tie up the story line.

I had become hooked on 'Jericho' and they left me without answers. So I joined with the millions of other 'Jericho' fans and began to fight back. I started by simply signing an online petition to save the show. Then I started looking around and stumbled upon the CBS Jericho board and Wiki. I found that many other viewers where just as upset as I was, and started reading their posts. We all rallied together and have accomplished many things I NEVER imagined that a group of strangers could accomplish.

  1. We have sent 32,986 lbs of nuts to CBS NY and CBS LA
  2. That petition I mentioned earlier now has 99020 Total Signatures.
  3. We have bombarded CBS with Emails, Letters, Postcards, and Phone Calls.
  4. We raised money and placed 2 advertisements in professional magazines (Variety and Hollywood Reporter)
  5. www.nutsonline.com/jericho lists the tons of media coverage we have gotten.
  6. We have also become like a family, instead of a group of strangers. We chat about more than just Jericho, we joke, we learn about each other. Its great!
This movement has also brought my attention to the importance of sites like digg.com and blogger. These types of communication tools are the new window to the world, and its time for large media companies to realize that the consumer will no longer sit quietly and take the abuse they are putting out. This IS bigger than 'Jericho'. This fight has shown me that I need to become more active in expressing my thoughts.

So I decided to start blogging. I doubt many people will read my blog, but hey I will know that I'm putting my thoughts out there. I will be eager to express myself and fight for bigger things than a TV show. We need to get groups of people together that are this enthusiastic on issues like the government and the world.

Those are my thoughts
